Alzheimer's Association
The most common form of dementia, Alzheimer's is a disease that attacks the brain. Alzheimer's is NOT a natural part of aging. Alzheimer's affects memory, behavior, personality, ability to perform basic tasks, etc. As the afflicted individual ages the symptoms progressively worsen to the point of total incapacitation.
There is no cure for Alzheimers. However there are medications available to lessen the symptoms. Also, various behavioral programs have been shown to decrease undesirable behaviors associated with the disease.
